Senators Roll Over Hug On The Volleyball Court
The Carson Senators took on the Hawks of Hug High Thursday at home on the volleyball court. The Senators made quick work of the Hawks, taking care of business in less than an hour 25-3, 25-12, 25-12. It was a relatively textbook victory for the Senators, who at no point really seemed to struggle to put the Hawks away.
“We played with low intensity late, but I'm always happy to get the win. For such a young team to bring intensity is hard when you play team with a lesser skill set,” said CHS coach Robert Maw. Carson has made some good strides from their last coming season, especially from the individuals of Sarah Christl and Makenzie Tucker.
“Christl has stepped up her defense big from last season. Tucker didn’t play libero last year, but she also has stepped up her game in the defensive aspect as well and filled in the position well,” Coach Maw said.
The Senators biggest competitors of the season will be without a doubt the 12-1 Manogue Miners, whom they don’t compete with until Thursday, October 9th at home.
“We need to execute our quick offense and the biggest key is going to be ball control. We will be able to out hustle them and they won’t be able to catch up with Jaycie,” he said.
Jaycie Roberts had 9 kills on the night, Juliana Anderson had 8, and Tucker left with 3 aces.
The Lady Senators next match up will be against the North Valleys Panthers next Tuesday, 6 p.m. Sept. 23, at Carson High in Carson City.
