Carson HHS director to speak at Democratic luncheon
The speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Nicki Aaker, Director of Carson City Health and Human Services. Prior to her appointment in 2013, she was a senior manager at Carson City's Sierra Surgery Hospital. She holds both a Master of Science in Nursing and a Master of Public Health from the University of Nevada-Reno.
Carson City Health and Human Services protects and improves the quality of life for our community through disease prevention, education and support services. Their vision is to take the lead in providing our region with services that support healthy communities.
Carson City's HHS serves as the health department within the City of Carson City, a consolidated municipality. It is comprised of the following divisions: Administration, Chronic Disease Prevention & Health Promotion, Clinical Services, Disease Control & Prevention, Environmental Health, Human Services, and Public Health Preparedness.
Although Carson City Health & Human Services is housed within the City of Carson City, its services do not stop at the city limits. Many HHS divisions serve the rest of the "quad counties" as well - Douglas, Lyon and Storey Counties.
This event is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, August 28th, and can be attended either in person at Black Bear Diner, inside Max Casino, or online via Zoom. Nicki Aaker's presentation will begin after all the lunch orders have been taken, around 1:30. Those wishing to be on distribution for luncheon Zoom links should contact Rich Dunn at richdunn@aol.com.
