Carson Valley Trails Association Annual Meeting May 25, Featuring Duane Petite
MINDEN — The Carson Valley Trails Association invites the public to attend our 2022 Annual Meeting & Member Celebration this Wednesday, May 25th, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Held at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center, the evening will feature trails information and updates, complimentary refreshments, raffle prizes, and a no-host bar.
A highlight of this year’s meeting will be an opportunity to meet our first Executive Director, Duane Petite.
Given his decades of service to the Carson Valley, many in our community already know Mr. Petite and his wife Pam. Their family moved to the Garnerville area in 1981 planning to enjoy every free moment on foot, on horseback or on mountain bikes exploring the public lands surrounding the Carson Valley. Within a few years they found access to the public lands diminishing as real estate development was accelerating. This new reality is what lead Duane to his work with the USFS, The Nature Conservancy and CVTA.
Over the years, Duane has volunteered with CVTA building trails, recruiting corporate volunteers and organizing events. More recently, his volunteering has evolved to include workshop facilitation and advising the Board on their membership program and fundraising efforts. Now, as CVTA’s first ever Executive Director, Duane is energized by this new opportunity to work closely with our members, volunteers, donors and directors as well as community partners, agency representatives, private landowners, elected officials and tribal leaders.
Join us at this free event to learn more about CVTA, our 50+ miles of trails, and the new trails coming to Carson Valley.
