Carson High School Class of 2021 Safe Grad announces graduation parade lineup and festivities

Carson High Safe Grad has announced its lineup plans, events and even gifts for the senior class of 2021.

Graduation day is Saturday, June 5, 9 a.m. at the Carson High School football field. This will be an in-person graduation. See the graduation announcement here.

Instaimage will be live streaming graduation and will create a video from the live stream feed. A link will be posted on the Gallery tab once completed.

Information on where to find the link can be found on the Carson High Safe Grad website here and will also be posted on their Facebook page once info is available.

Senior Gifts:
Parents and students have been submitting their photos for their own personalized window / door cling, 18x24-inches in size. Pick up will be at the senior assembly on June 3, 2021 only.

Carson High School on graduation day will look a little different this year. Parents and students have been submitting pictures so each student will have a yard sign with students name and photo at the front of the school.

These will be on display during graduation and will need to be picked up immediately following graduation in front of the school.

If you have not submitted a photo please do so ASAP as the cutoff was May 14, 2021. Please submit to carsonhighsafegrad@gmail.com with first and last name.

Class of 2021 Graduation Parade:
Get your creative thinking caps on class of 2021. The best decorated vehicle will win a cash prize of $50 and a 2021 Carson High Spirit gift basket and a 2nd prize winner will receive a 2021 Carson High Spirit gift basket.

Graduate participation, school spirit is highly encouraged during judging. Judges will be watching as well while others are being judged and waiting to depart.

The parade will head down Highway 395 S to 5th street heading to Saliman. Graduates will drive by the high school for one more farewell goodbye wave/honk ending at Highway 50 as the head off in their own direction. There will be no meeting place at the end of parade.

Family, friends and community are welcome to cheer them on during the parade. Side traffic will be held while the graduates are making their way to the high school.

The graduation parade will be held on June 5, 2021 at 7 p.m.

Graduates need to report to 555 Wright Way by 6:15 p.m.

Judging will begin for best decorated vehicle at 6:15pm and awarded before the parade begins. Winners will receive their prize and photos will be posted on the Carson High Website.

The parade will be live streamed on the Carson High Safe Grad booster Facebook page and loaded to the Gallery tab for 2021.

Green Our Planet will host the second annual Northern Nevada Giant Student Farmers Market on Wednesday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fuji Park on The Park Grass in Carson City. The Northern Nevada Giant Student Farmers Market will feature approximately 10 schools throughout the northern part of the Silver State.

Miller Counseling and Wellness Center began partnering with Douglas Center for Hope and Healing to offer grief support groups for adults in Carson City in 2024. There has been an amazing turnout, and the group appears to be filling a much-needed void in services to our community.

On Saturday, April 20, Carson City Community Gardeners and the UNR Extension Master Gardeners came together to get the Community Garden ready for the growing season. For two hours they removed weeds, spread mulch and prepped their garden beds for the season.

In collaboration with Chartwells, the Carson City School District foodservice partner, Culinary Arts students from Ms. Tammy Borreman’s class at Carson Middle School competed in a “Discovery Kitchen Cook Off.” Similar to a mini version of the Food Network’s Iron Chef, the timed cooking competition featured teams of three students who prepared succulent dishes for a judging panel.

Six local bowlers were inducted in the third class of the Carson Country Bowling Association Hall of Fame at their annual meeting on Saturday, April 27, at HomeGrown Bowl. Carson Country is the local association of the U.S. Bowling Congress.

Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space will hold a "Sheep Talk" this Monday, April 29 from noon to 1 p.m. so residents can learn from Carson City staff about the popular fuel reduction program used annually with the use of "firefighting" sheep.

Camp GOTR (Girls on the Run) is coming to Carson City for the second year in a row! Camp GOTR will be a week-long, half-day summer camp from 8 AM- 12 PM at the Carson City Community Center the week of August 5th- August 9th.

Girls on the Run Sierras is a character-building program for girls in 3rd through 8th grade operating in the Reno-Tahoe area.

A number of new Junior Park Rangers received their badges as they were sworn in as part of the annual Junior Park Rangers Day in Carson City.

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Bob Crowell Boardroom of the Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.
