Southwest Gas reminds customers how to recognize field employees, licensed contractors
At Southwest Gas, your safety is our number one priority. That’s why we go the extra mile to operate safe natural gas pipelines that meet or exceed all local, state, and federal regulations. From time to time, you might have a Southwest Gas employee or licensed contractor knocking on your door or walking around your neighborhood.
Our employees and contractors conduct various jobs in the field such as meter reads, pipe surveys, and routine maintenance surveys on our natural gas system. If you are concerned about the legitimacy of the employee, here are tips on how to recognize a Southwest Gas employee or contractor:
• Check their identification badge. All Southwest Gas employees carry badges and will gladly show their ID and describe the purpose of their visit.
• Contractors may not carry Southwest Gas identification, but they do carry a Southwest contractors’ badge and can describe the work they are doing. Contractor vehicles also have “Contractor for Southwest Gas” markings on their official vehicles.
• Customers are welcome to call Southwest Gas at 1-877-860-6020 to verify work being done in the area.
Utility work rarely requires inside entry as most of the work conducted takes place outside of your home or business. Occasionally, however, technicians may need inside access to check your natural gas appliances. Check to ensure they have the proper credentials before allowing a technician to enter your home.
