Rides on the 1926 Edwards Motor Car will be available Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. (every 20 minutes or so) at the Nevada State Railroad Museum. With the Capital City filled with daytime summer events, the night will come alive on Wednesday, July 14, with the second annual Concert Under the Stars. at Adele's Restaurant and Lounge in Carson City.

Be inventive and creative, recycle and learn to feed birds all in one day.
A class on how to make a bird feeder out of recycled plastic will be offered by Nevada State Parks at Washoe Lake on July 10 beginning at 10 a.m.
Park staff will teach anyone how to decorate bird feeders out of recycled plastic bottles. The program is suitable for ages 5 to adult and all materials will be provided.
In honor of Nevada State Parks 75th anniversary, all children will receive a 75th anniversary memorabilia prize.

It may be second verse but basic common sense deserves reminding from time-to-time as we approach the holiday weekend.
Don't play with fireworks in the forest, in the trees or in the neighborhood. Don't drink and drive. Don't lose your cool. Hydrate. Stay away from any warm potato salad that has sat in the sun for more than two hours; relax and enjoy the scenery and people around you.

It's a beautiful day to be in Fuji Park looking at some beautiful cars. The Karson Kruzers 26th Annual Run What Cha Brung Car event is going on right now, so get on down there. Through syncopated rhythm, men young and old brought their down shovels and hoes onto the weeds, effectively cutting them off from existence. On the other side of the school grounds, women and children were picking up trash, repairing the track circle and supplying everyone with an unconditional amount of pizza and water.

This event was an Eagle Scout Project headed by David McMasters on June 22 to improve Fritsch Elementary School’s track and playground for generations to come.

Carson City music lovers have a real treat ahead of them this Sunday at 7:30 p.m. when Carrie Rodriguez brings her violin and other instruments to the Brewery’s Outdoor Amphitheater at 441 W. King St.

At the Chamber's Annual Meeting held at Duke’s Steakhouse inside the Casino Fandango on Monday, June 21, outgoing Chairman of the Board Jim Smolenski honored special people who helped the Chamber grow during his tenure.

Among the many things to do on Father's Day was for the kids to take dad (or vice versa) to the train museum.

Don't miss the final day of the Stewart Father's Day Powwow at the Stewart Facility, 5500 Snyder Ave., in Carson City. Exhibits, demonstrations, food, and art vendors and the Grand Entry Dance begins at noon today and will continue until about 4 p.m.

The 17th Taste of Downtown brought Carson City citizens together again, celebrating what makes the community rich in spirit despite the hard economic times. The annual event brought people of all ages and backgrounds together to celebrate and give to a temendously worthwhile and much-supported organization, Advocates to End Domestic Violence.

The crowds turned out for the Carson City Airport open house today. The event featured plenty of planes of all type on display, as well as some flyovers, a RC model plane demonstration and many other activities.

Pianist Dr. Ron Williams performed the 50th Anniversary Recital of Toccatas and Sonatas Thursday night at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall.

The event was put on as a fundraiser for Carson City Symphony’s String for the School Program. More than fifty people attended, ranging from children to seniors.

The Recital featured songs written and originally played by J.S. Bach, D. Scarlatti, Paradisi, Haydn, Schumann, Beethoven and Ravel.

Williams was accompanied by his wife Genevieve Williams, who also assisted him while he was performing.

A Relay for Life fundraiser at Carson Lanes on Thursday night netted around $350, reports Joe Reinbolt, tech and bar manager. The money raised came from food and bowling specials, says Joe.

“Splice,” a 2009 movie that won some independent film awards, is playing at the Carson City Fandango Galaxy for the next couple of weeks, depending on how many people plunk down several dollars to see the film. It’s a sc-fi fantasy outing, with the plot lifted more or less from the Dr. Frankenstein concept of Mary Shelly.

It was a glorious time in the spirit of Old Glory. Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell welcomed the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West to Carson City Wednesday night.
The performance held at the Bob Boldrick Community Center was a solid smash and delighted the mostly senior audience, many of whom served in the military. The last time the full band was in Carson City was in the fall of 2006.

Shoppers perused the fresh fruits and vegetables at the first farmers’ market of the season at the Pony Express Pavilion in Mills Park on Wednesday.

More than 20 vendors were on hand offering fresh produce, baked goods, crafts and flowers. For the first time in the market’s 16-year history, there are also vendors selling fresh meat and prepared foods like lumpias, wraps and sandwiches.
