For many Western Nevada College students participating in the IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) program in June, it was their first experience with scientific research.

Local authors and historians David & Gayle Woodruff, assume the characters of George Whittell and his Parisian socialite wife Elia, one of the wealthiest couples on the West Coast during the 1920s-1960s.

Local law enforcement joining forces to tackle impaired driving through July

The Nevada State Police - Highway Patrol Division and other law enforcement agencies participating in Joining Forces will combine resources from June 30 to July 21, 2023, to apprehend impaired drivers.

Carson City SET deputies arrest juvenile homicide suspect in traffic stop along with four other suspects

On June 29, 2023, at about 5:39 p.m., A Special Enforcement Team detective noticed a vehicle committing an improper stop at a red light at North Carson and West Musser. The detective conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver, identified as 36-year-old Navdip Kahira. A male and female juvenile were also in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.
Potential Harmful Algal Bloom identified in Washoe Lake, pets and humans should avoid water contact

Scientists sampling surface waters at Washoe Lake State Park have identified a potential Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) along the shoreline of the lake.
The Interagency HAB Task Force – comprised of officials from the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, Nevada State Parks, and the Nevada Department of Wildlife – are working together to ensure the public is notified to help protect the health of park visitors and their pets.
Mills Park Drumming for All Ages/Abilities Saturday
