McAvoy Layne: Carson City's inaugural Mark Twain Days was the best fun ever in a white suit

I have never had so much fun in a white suit. Carson City’s Inaugural Mark Twain Days banged anything I ever struck, and it’s thanks to one lady. Debra Soule, Arts & Culture Programs Manager, had the vision. Good managers manage. Great managers inspire, and Debra inspired a stellar staff, along with an army of volunteers, to stage perhaps the best Mark Twain extravaganza the world has ever seen.

Nevada fund for victims of crime at risk of insolvency

A state fund used to grant compensation to victims of crime is at risk of being insolvent during the upcoming two-year budget period if additional money is not added to address a dwindling pot of federal dollars.

Enjoy some neighborhood cheer. I love gardening. By far, my favorite garden is in Spring. What started as a few tulips six years ago, has grown to blooms garden wide.

Spring flowers don't last long, however, they bring such joy after our long winters — especially this year's.

I invest in things that bring a smile to my face — that keep me focusing on the positive— on joy — on things I can share with others. A simple flower's bloom brings me back to feeling hope and happiness.
