Carson Country bowlers inducted to local Hall of Fame
Seven local bowlers were inducted in the second class of the Carson Country Bowling Association Hall of Fame at their annual meeting on Saturday, April 29, at Carson Lanes. Carson Country is the local association of the U.S. Bowling Congress.
The bowlers were recognized for their bowling skills or their ongoing commitment of service to the association.
Don Simonian of Carson City was recognized for the Superior Performance Award including at least 8 sanctioned 300 games, back-to-back 300s, and one sanctioned 800 series at Carson Lanes.
Frank Reynolds of Carson City was recognized for the Meritorious Service Award for his efforts support the youth bowlers and Bowling for Veterans Link Tournament.
Rich Sharp of Carson City was recognized for the Love of Bowling Award for his continuing efforts supporting and coaching the youth bowlers even as his own bowling career was sidelined through injury.
Mike Boecher of Gardnerville was recognized as Bowler of the Year, Male, for his high averages for several years as well as a 300 game, 800 series and 140 pins over average series during this year.
Jennifer Dunbar of Dayton was recognized as Bowler of the Year, Female, for her high averages for several years, including the highest average this year at 207.
Jenessa Hernandez of Gardnerville and Nolan Pedersen of Carson City were awarded the Star of Tomorrow awards. Hernandez qualified for national junior tournaments, bowled her first 300, and participates in the Douglas High School Junior ROTC. Pedersen has bowled in multiple leagues, was the team captain for the Carson High School bowling team and is dual credit enrolled in high school and college courses.
Each of the bowlers received a plaque recognizing their award. The Star of Tomorrow Award also includes a $500 scholarship from the local Association. Additional information is available here.
