Carson City and Douglas County offices closed Tuesday due to severe weather

Carson City and Douglas County offices will be closed today, Tuesday, due to ongoing severe winter weather. This closure includes all City offices with the exception of the courthouse and essential public safety services.
Governor Lombardo extends state government office closures Tuesday in Northern Nevada

Gov. Joe Lombardo announced state offices in Carson City, Douglas County, Lyon County, Storey County, and Washoe County will remain closed on Tuesday, Feb. 28. Aside from essential public safety and corrections personnel, state offices in these counties will be closed today due to ongoing severe winter weather.
Western Nevada College to continue remote operations Tuesday

Western Nevada College officials have decided to continue remote operations on Tuesday, Feb. 28. Remote operations are planned for the Carson City and Douglas campuses, and the Child Development Center.
As of early Monday evening, the Fallon campus was scheduled to open at its regular time of 8 a.m. For more information and updates, go to wnc.edu.
All schools in the Carson City School District closed Tuesday

Due to the continuing winter storm warning, high winds and weather-related conditions, all schools in the Carson City School District will be closed for the entire day Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023.
All employees and students should remain home. No student activities, afterschool programs or practices will occur, including remote instruction. No school services such as transportation, nutrition or student health will be provided.
Public Works plowers removing snow in Carson City around the clock; advise best shoveling practices

Here we go yet again with another storm fast approaching. If you do not need to be out on the roads, please stay home and stay safe.
Carson City Public Works' crews are currently running two 12-hour shifts. This means all of our plows are working 24 hours a day through these storms.
Fernley middle school student arrested for having handgun on campus

On Monday at approximately 10 a.m., Lyon County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Silverland Middle School in Fernley, Nev., regarding a student possibly in possession of a firearm at school.

REMSA Health, Care Flight and our community are grieving the loss of those on board the medical transport plane that crashed Friday night. We extend our deepest condolences to their loved ones. Carson City deputies make weekend arrests for DUIs, warrants and obstructing, resisting

A 58-year-old man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of misdemeanor obstructing an officer and resisting arrest, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
