The famous Awful Awful Burger was created by Dick Graves at the Carson Nugget on March 1, 1954. Dick Graves opened the Carson Nugget Casino and served the first Awful Awful Burger for only 55 cents on opening day of the Carson Nugget.
Potential for drift smoke returning to Carson City, western Nevada as winds fuel California fires

Increased fire activity in northern California and a return of modest west winds may bring a return of haze and smoke to the Carson City, Lake Tahoe and western Nevada region that could linger for the next couple days, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

NHP investigating fatal crash Friday involving juvenile pedestrian in Churchill County

A male juvenile pedestrian died Friday from injuries suffered in a vehicle crash in Churchill County, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Armed standoff between Carson City deputies, disturbed woman resolved, no injuries, woman safe

UPDATE 12:26 p.m.: She is in custody and unharmed, but very dehydrated. No injuries reported.
UPDATE: As of 12:16 p.m. it appears the woman has surrendered to deputies following a nearly three hours long stand off in the area of Prison Hill. No injuries have been reported. She set the fire arm down, put her hands on her head and knelt on the ground. Her vehicle is disabled.

A standoff in the hills near Prison Hill Tuesday morning is currently underway between Carson City Sheriff’s Office and a young woman who had claimed to have shot her mother, and is threatening to kill herself.
