Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report contains Martinez-Guzman confession

A probable cause arrest report released Friday by the Carson City Sheriff's Office on 19 year-old murder suspect Wilber Ernesto Martinez-Guzman contains a confession under Miranda.

Author of 'Lost Carson City' featured at Nevada State Archives brown bag luncheon Feb. 12

Peter Mires, author of the book, "Lost Carson City," will be the featured speaker at the monthly brown bag luncheon held Tuesday, Feb. 12 from 12-1 p.m. inside the Nevada State Archives board room in Carson City.

Light refreshments will be served.

NCAA Division I Signing Ceremony held at Carson High for Beglin, Pradere

Carson High School hosted a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Signing Ceremony for two student athletes in the gym Friday morning.

Jill Beglin signed with St. John's University for golf and Abby Pradere signed with the University of San Francisco for track.

Congratulations to Mark Twain choir, teacher for performances at State of the State Address

Well done and congratulations to music teacher and performing artist Christina Bourne and all of the choir students from Mark Twain Elementary School in Carson City.

Ms. Bourne sang the National Anthem and the student choir sang two songs for Governor Sisolak’s State of the State Address last week at the Nevada State Legislature.

Ryker is a three-year-old Spinone Italiano and Carson City native, and he is on his way to the Westminster Dog Show in New York as America's number one Spinone for 2018 with a handful of championship wins under his belt.

Rosebud's Dance Band and the Kiwanis Club of Carson Valley invite you to attend a Valentine's Dance.

The dance is scheduled for Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the CVIC Hall, 1604 Esmeralda Avenue in Minden.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Music playing from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

Tickets are $10 at the door. Ages 10 and under are free.

There will be a dessert bar, as well as a no-host bar. There will also be a raffle.

District attorneys from Douglas and Washoe counties will hold a joint press conference Monday to discuss the latest on possible murder charges against Wilber Ernesto Martinez-Guzman, a suspect in the murders of two women in Gardnerville and an elderly couple in South Reno.

Man arrested after car chase, attempting to run over Carson City Sheriff's deputy

A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of Sherman and Highway 50 on multiple felonies, including eluding with endangerment and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer. Misdemeanor charges included resisting a public officer, reckless driving, and failure to use due care.

Deadline for Friends of the Carson City Library survey is Feb. 15

Friends of the Carson City Library is looking for ways to better serve the community, and, in turn, better support the library.

The organization, which provides funding to the Carson City Library, is asking the community to take a survey.
