Nevada Historical Society welcomes Michelle Roberts as new Education Curator

CARSON CITY — Adventure has long been a part of Michelle Roberts’ life, from a two-year stint in the Peace Corps in southeast Africa to circumnavigating the globe during a “semester at sea” to study cultures in Southeast Asia to researching and eating insects.

Spring semester at Western Nevada College is your opportunity to earn one of the industry-recognized credentials that Nevada employers want from their new hires. WNC offers certifications during spring semester that could lead to employment in industries such as manufacturing, information technology, computer-aided drafting, welding, machining, bookkeeping, health care, construction and automotive mechanics.

Prerequisite CPR course offered prior to WNC's Spring semester

Individuals considering enrolling in nursing assistant and EMS classes this spring at Western Nevada College must have their prerequisite CPR course completed.

WNC is providing two different one-day sessions of the required Healthcare Provider CPR (EMS 100) class prior to spring semester. This course also is a prerequisite for admission into the nursing program.

The CPR classes will be offered on Saturday, Jan. 5 and Saturday, Jan. 19. Both sessions will meet from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Carson City arrests: Woman jailed for allegedly switching tags at Walmart checkout line

A 45-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 3:19 p.m. at Walmart in the 3200 block of Market Street for suspicion of possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, a gross misdemeanor and petit larceny, a sheriff's deputy said.
