January Board of Supervisors meeting will fill several vacancies

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will be held on Jan. 3 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, located at 851 East William Street.

Carson Tahoe Breast Center recognized for outstanding oncology research contributions

Carson Tahoe Health (CTH) and the Carson Tahoe Breast Center have recently been recognized by the National Cancer Institute for Outstanding Contributions in Oncology Research.

Vehicle accident blocks traffic at Stewart and Robinson

Carson City Sheriff's deputies are on scene of a non-injury two-vehicle accident that occurred Friday morning just after 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of N. Stewart and E. Robinson streets.

The vehicles involved, however, are blocking parts of Robinson Street as well as the No. 1 travel lane of northbound Stewart.

Motorists in the area can expect traffic delays and should consider an alternate route.

Local historian to speak on the life and times of William Ormsby

Nevada historian CW Bayer will be the featured speaker at a New Year's Eve luncheon sponsored by Carson's Democratic Men's Committee. The topic of will be "William Ormsby and the founding of the Nevada Territory."

This event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 31, in the banquet room of Carson City's Round Table on Retail Drive just off College Parkway. Admission is free and no donations are requested.

This presentation will simply be an opportunity for Carsonites to learn more about the legacy of this little-known but fascinating Nevada historical figure. All are welcome.

Hello Carson City. The weekend approaches and we're still wondering how we went from Thanksgiving to Christmas so fast. We are coming into Friday, Dec. 28, 2018. Besides having to put on an extra layer of clothing and setting the thermostat a couple degrees warmer, conditions outside are what can be expected as we head into 2019: Cloudy to sunny with a continued chill in the air.

Single lane closures expected through Jan. 31 on Kingsbury Grade

CARSON CITY — January is National Radon Action Month, and University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s Radon Education Program is offering free short-term radon test kits to Nevadans from Jan. 2 through Feb. 28. Radon test kits are available at Cooperative Extension offices and partnering locations, as well as at presentations, statewide.

Carson City deputies make arrests for stalking, multiple cases of domestic battery

An 18-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 1000 block of S. Roop Street Wednesday afternoon for suspicion of stalking and two counts of violation of bail conditions.
