Carson Tahoe kicks off Think Pink breast cancer awareness campaign Monday

CARSON CITY — Carson Tahoe Health will celebrate its 16th annual Think Pink breast cancer awareness campaign this Monday, Oct. 2.
Red’s Old 395 Grill will once again host the event from 5 to 7 p.m. in Carson City. The event is free to attend and individuals wearing a Carson Tahoe Think Pink T-shirt (any year) will receive free appetizers courtesy of Red’s.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office receives public safety Joining Forces grant

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has received a $43,000 grant from the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, to support the agency's participation in the Joining Forces traffic safety campaign for the coming year.

Carson City Girl Scout Rummage Sale to Benefit Hurricane Victims

The Carson City Girls Scouts will host a rummage sale this Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with proceeds to benefit Girls Scouts affected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.

Clean out those closets and garages, bring them for a good cause and or stop by and pick up some bargains along the way. The sale is at 1745 Belmont Avenue in Carson City.

Carson City Sheriff's Office investigating man found dead in garage, natural causes suspected

UPDATE 1:28PM: Investigators at the scene report the death is being investigated as potentially by natural causes with hemorrhaging. Foul play is not suspected.

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were called Thursday afternoon to the area of West Ninth and South Division for a man discovered dead and bloody in a garage with circumstances appearing suspicious, according to dispatch.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a motorcycle crash that happened Tuesday on the USA Parkway Extension in Lyon County and is asking for any witnesses to come forward if they have information.

Vaccination clinics offered at Carson City schools

Carson City Health and Human Services is working with the Carson City School District to offer students annual seasonal flu vaccinations. There will be a team of CCHHS licensed nurses at each school to administer the flu vaccine. The vaccination is safe and a health action that benefits all age groups to protect against influenza illness.

Carson City Health and Human Services commends tobacco merchants for checking IDs

Carson City Health and Human Services is commending local tobacco merchants for continuing to check IDs in an ongoing effort to stop local youth from smoking. During fiscal year 2016-2017, 27 tobacco card operations were done, with two failing to comply.
