Local best selling author Todd Borg will be at the Browsers Corner Book Store Thursday, September 11.

Come and hear about his latest Owen McKenna mystery "Tahoe Ghost Boat." Books will be available for sale and signing.

This event is free and light refreshments will be served. The doors at the book store located at 711 East Washington Street will open at 6:20 PM and seating will be limited.

Winning Design Unveiled: Nevadans choose Great Basin National Park medallion

Gov. Brian Sandoval, Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki and Kirk Clausen from Wells Fargo, the official sponsor of the medallion program, joined the Nevada 150 Commission and special guests Wednesday in Carson City to reveal the design and strike Nevada’s fourth and final sesquicentennial silver medallion for the State’s 150th birthday celebration.

Carson City Supervisor John McKenna Issues Statement on Tesla

“Tesla's decision to open a huge battery plant in the Reno area is exciting news and a game changer for all of northern Nevada. I congratulate the Nevada economic development team on landing this high technology company for our area.

I would expect short term issues to affect our region as we absorb such a large addition to our manufacturing community. Labor migration and availability will be a challenge to our existing base.

Nevada Artists Association 'Photography Show' at BAC through October, reception Saturday

The Nevada Artists Association presents its annual "Photography Show" now through Oct. 24. The show, at Carson City's Brewery Arts Center, is exhibiting the work of the regions best photographers and painters.

A reception will be held for the photographers, painters and artists Saturday Sept. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. The public is invited to view the exhibit, meet the artists and partake of libations and refreshments. Located at 499 West King Street, the NAA's BAC Gallery is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Carson High class of 1969 celebrates its 45th reunion with meet and greet, barbecue

The Carson High Class of 1969 will hold a 45th reunion Friday Sept. 12 at Westside Pourhouse, 110 W Telegraph St. for a meet and greet.

We invite classes 1966 through 1972, and teachers.

Saturday will be a barbecue for classmates only at the home of Paul Sinnott.

Report claims Tesla has chosen Nevada for battery factory

CNBC is reporting that Tesla has chosen Nevada as the site for the company's $5 billion lithium-ion battery plant, quoting a source inside Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval's office.

The report says the governor will hold a news conference on Thursday in Carson City, Nevada to make a "major economic development announcement."

It had been previously revealed that ground work had been completed in the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center to make way for the factory, that could bring as many as 5,000 jobs to the state.

Forest Service opts to restore wetlands, remove Incline Lake Dam

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit plans to restore wetlands and remove the dam at the site of the former Incline Lake, according to a decision by Forest Supervisor Nancy Gibson issued Wednesday.

WNC Baseball: Wildcats to open fall schedule Sunday

The Western Nevada College baseball team opens its fall scrimmage season Sunday against Feather River College of Quincy, Calif. The doubleheader begins at 11 a.m. at Peccole Park at the University of Nevada, Reno, the site of six of the Wildcats’ fall games.

D.J. Whittemore, entering his 10th season at the helm of the Wildcats, said the club will take the same approach that it does when the regular season begins in late January.
