Carson City firefighters rescue several animals at Airport Road apartment fire
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 01/28/2013 - 1:56pmUPDATE 10:30PM: The apartment fire Monday afternoon at a complex off of Airport Road in Carson City was caused by a child playing with a lighter, Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi confirmed. Flame from the lighter touched off blankets and the fire spread, he said.
UPDATE 2:29PM: Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi reports no injuries and several animals rescued at a fire inside an apartment/townhome complex in the 3400 block of Airport Road.
Carson City man jailed after breaking down door with ax, swinging it at woman
Submitted by editor on Mon, 01/28/2013 - 12:59pmA Carson City man was arrested Sunday and faces a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly breaking down a door with an ax and threatening a woman.
Reymundo Antonio Robles, 39, was arrested in the 800 block of Musser Street. According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched at 10:03 p.m. in reference to a possible domestic battery. The reporting party stated Robles was breaking down the door with an ax.
The Private Bank by Nevada State Bank releases research on investment portfolios of high-income households

The research prepared by local market research firm Applied Analysis was specific to changes in the income and investment portfolios of Nevada’s higher income households during the past several years. The report suggests that Nevada’s higher income households were overly exposed to real estate investment risk prior to the recession and have rapidly shifted assets into low-yield bonds, transaction accounts and certificates of deposit.

Dayton schools on one-hour delay after 13 buses vandalized

More details in Carson City road rage incident, suspect identified
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 01/27/2013 - 3:40pmUPDATE JAN.29: Desiree Bragg, the woman who was chased and struck by a vehicle in a road rage incident on Saturday night in Carson City, has died.
Bragg was taken off life support Tuesday, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong confirmed. Friends on Facebook began posting messages on Carson Now. Furlong confirmed and said he and Carson City District Attorney Neil Rombardo were meeting and would make more information available later today.
Furlong said he believed Bragg was 19 years old but wasn't able to confirm her age at the time he spoke with Carson Now. He said he was alerted to her death while he was in a meeting.
The 27-year-old suspect, Leonardo Cardoza, will likely face murder charges.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong released more details into Saturday night's road rage incident that sent a Carson City woman to the hospital with serious injuries. The suspect, Leonardo Cardoza, 27, was also flown to the hospital and was released Sunday morning and is now in the Carson City Jail facing multiple felony charges including battery with a deadly weapon, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and DUI.
