Suspects in Carson City Wells Fargo bank robbery tied to Reno bank robberies

UPDATE 7:17PM: Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said the two suspects captured after this morning's Wells Fargo bank robbery may be tied to a Nevada State Bank robbery in Reno. The two men, Kenneth Wayne Young, 44, and Michael Lee Smith, 36, are leaving Carson City Jail and will be booked and arraigned in federal court.

November 26, 2012 (All day) Colin Kaepernick or Alex Smith? That is the question that Jim Harbaugh must answer, and answer for good before next week’s game in St. Louis. It does not serve a locker room well when there is a rift or questions left unanswered. Inconsistency can damage a team’s chemistry, and at this point that is the last thing San Francisco needs. Yes, the 49ers appear to have a problem that every team would love to have. They have two quarterbacks that are very capable of winning, but only one should be the everyday starter, and the team deserves to know it.

Overeating at Thanksgiving means four days of overindulgence. It’s long enough to set a pattern for life. Thanksgiving dinner alone brings with it about five thousand calories, that’s a lot of eating. We overeat to relieve tension, and there is sure enough of that to go around at Thanksgiving. Relatives who haven’t seen each other for years get together for ego mashing over the potatoes. You end up with a migraine and a killer desire for pie. And we were born with overdeveloped guilt feelings regarding pie.

Submitted by editor on Sun, 11/25/2012 - 3:13amHere is the Carson City road construction and maintenance report for the week of Nov. 26 to Dec. 2: Curry Street will be closed between 6th Street and 7th Street on weekdays due to construction activity. Detours will be signed.
There will be utility work on south side of East Fifth Street immediately east of South Roop Street on Wednesday, Nov. 28. The left turn lane from E. Fifth Street westbound to S. Roop Street southbound will be closed. A detour will be signed.
Nevada lawmakers seek to repeal anti-communist discrimination law
Submitted by editor on Sun, 11/25/2012 - 1:30amCARSON CITY - At a time when right-wing politicians are crying about the rise of socialism in America, the Nevada Legislature is moving in the opposite direction: It is poised to prohibit job discrimination against communists.
How could the state approve such a law in the first place? America has had socialists such as Eugene V. Debs and communists such as Gus Hall run for president multiple times. Back in 1905, nine Nevada state legislators were socialists.
Carson City home badly damaged in overnight fire
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 11/25/2012 - 12:56amUPDATE 1:56AM: Carson City fire investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire late Saturday night that destroyed about 50 percent of a manufactured home in the 1700 block of Race Track Road.
Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Bob Charles said the fire, initially reported as being inside a garage, was found to be fully engulfed in the front patio area and then spread to the main interior of the home before it was extinguished. With a number of add-ons, the manufactured home is believed to be about 2,200 square-feet in size.
Letter: Dividing the Pie

As a matter of economic law and history, raising taxes will never balance a budget. It never has and never will. If a budget cannot be balanced without tax increases, it will never be balanced afterwards. The reason is simple, raising taxes decreases tax revenues and strangles growth. Many Nevada taxpayers believe that our legislators seek to redistribute our tax dollars to buy votes or political power rather than serve the public good.
