Fire burning at Indian Creek in Alpine County seen from Carson City

Alpine County has evacuated the Indian Creek Campground, reports Helen Frazier of the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center.
While there aren't any homes in the immediate fire area, the campground does have a number of recreation facilities.

Carson City Sheriff's Office hosts National Night Out on Aug. 2

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office and the National Association of Town Watch will co-sponsor the 28th annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at Mills Park.
The theme for this year is “101 Days of Crime Prevention and Safety” which was envisioned by Sheriff Ken Furlong to promote safety throughout the summer which continues well after National Night Out. Festivities run from 5 to to 8 p.m.
Fire destroys Carson City home on Wialaki Street
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 07/24/2011 - 2:59pmA home was destroyed in the 400 block of Wialaki Street near Mono and South Curry streets in Carson City on Sunday afternoon. One Carson City firefighter was injured in the blaze, officials said.
The fire was reported at 2:24 p.m. and burned the house and about a tenth of an acre of sagebrush on tribal land. It was ignited when slag from a grinder sparked brush during a welding operation, said Bob Charles, Battalion Chief for the Carson City Fire Department. The extent of injuries to the firefighter are not known at this time, but Charles did indicate the firefighter was going to be OK. He was taken to a hospital. The fire forced the evacuation of nearby homes in the immediate area.
Carson City planners to review apartment complex proposed for North Division

The meeting begins at 5 p.m. in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
