The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile in partnership with Nevada Health Centers and Ronald McDonald House Charities, will offer oral healthcare to child (up to age 21) and also to pregnant women at three locations in Carson City this week.

Renowned Composer, Sonatherapist, and Ordained Minister Reverend Dr. Gary Robert Buchanan Dies at 72

Reverend Dr. Gary Robert Buchanan, local composer, conductor, Sonatherapist, minister at the International Community of Christ, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on October 16, 2020, after a year-long fight against cancer. He is survived by his wife Amanda Buchanan, sons Bradley Buchanan of Ventura, California, and Kym Buchanan of Wisconsin, daughter Amy Buchanan-Rodriquez of Reno, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020 of an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad County region. The individual was a male Lyon County resident in his 80’s. CCHHS is also reporting 26 new cases and 33 additional recoveries in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,646, with 1,444 recoveries and 21 deaths; 181 cases remain active.

Carson City School District launches COVID-19 drive-thru testing for employees

The Carson City School District is pleased to announce it will offer free COVID-19 testing for all school employees in two drive-thru events. Information about the dates, times and location have already been provided to employees from school administrators. After the drive-thru events, school employees who become symptomatic at work may be tested by one of the school nurses.

CARSON CITY — Nevada Department of Public Safety Director George Togliatti has appointed Anne Carpenter as Colonel of the Nevada DPS, Highway Patrol Division. Colonel Carpenter officially takes command of the Nevada Highway Patrol on Monday, October 19, 2020. She will oversee 491 sworn officers and 96 non-sworn personnel.
