Nevada Department of Public Safety appoints new Parole and Probation Division Chief

Nevada Department of Public Safety Director George Togliatti has appointed Thomas Lawson as Chief of the Nevada DPS, Parole and Probation Division. The appointment is effective Monday, Nov. 16, 2020.

Senator Square: Carson High students compete in organ, tissue donor art competition

Be a part of bringing hope by voting on contestant art pieces to decide the “Social Media Fave” in the Donor Network West annual art contest. Four Carson High students, Anthony Larry, Connor Lampert, Danielle Van Dusen, and Sarai Jauregui Rivas made the first cut, though all of CHS Graphic Design Instructor Patricia Ababio’s students submitted entries.

A small airplane that made an emergency landing in a field Wednesday afternoon near Fremont Elementary School in Carson City was moved for tow to nearby Saliman Road, across from the school.

For the second year, the Ron Wood Family Resource Center in Carson City has received a generous donation of more than 2,700 pair of Bombas socks to give to those in need around the community.

Nevada honors Carson City Elementary teacher for national recognition

Mr. Victor Garcia-Mendez, an English Second Language paraprofessional at Mark Twain Elementary School in Carson City, was one of only two school employees nominated by Gov. Steve Sisolak to represent Nevada in the national selection process for the Recognizing Inspirational School Employees Award.

Students go 'dough to dough' to raise $11K for Carson City's Eagle Valley Middle School

CARSON CITY — Eagle Valley Middle School went "dough to dough" in the Parent Teacher Organization’s annual cookie dough fundraiser. In total, the gross sales were equivalent to more than $15,597. The school earned about 70 percent of total gross sales, bringing the net total to $11,034. A total of 888 units were sold.

In-person Instruction to Resume at Mark Twain Elementary in Carson City

The Carson City School District is pleased to announce Mark Twain Elementary School will resume in-person instruction with teachers and students beginning next week. Teachers and employees are expected to return Monday, Nov. 9, to conduct remote lessons, and students in specific grade levels and assigned cohorts are expected to return beginning Tuesday, Nov. 10, for in-person learning.

November Wine Walk, bike tour, craft fair and more highlight weekend events around Carson City
