I’m going to apologize right now. I can’t anticipate what this storm system will throw at us, so some of these planned events could get cancelled. One event that is never afraid of Mother Nature is the Downtown Carson City Wine Walk. Come rain, shine, or blizzard, you’ll find can sip, stroll, and discover starting at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Carson Hot Springs aren’t afraid of a little snow, and a special visit from Megan the Mermaid will make the icy hot experience more memorable. SATURDAY:

Two skiers who became lost Thursday after skiing out of bounds were rescued, one Thursday night and the other plucked Friday morning by a Blackhawk helicopter from NAS Fallon, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. Both skiers were wet and cold but otherwise escaped injuries.

A Spinone Italiano, Adele, owned by Carson City Deputy Director of Emergency Management Stacey Belt, made the cut to the final sporting dogs at the 142nd Westminster Dog Show in New York City on Tuesday. Ultimately, a bichon frise named Flynn was picked “best in show.”

AirMed will be here on Saturday, March 3rd between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Blaqk Coffee located at 655 US Hwy 50 East, Dayton, NV for an information session.

And even more good news! There will also be an information session in Silver Springs, on March 3rd from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Pizza Factory. We just confirmed it!

Carson City’s Deputy Director of Emergency Management, Stacey Belt, has a couple of very special Spinoni Italiano dogs. One of them, as Stacey puts it — a bearded Italian girl with bushy eyebrows named Adele, will be competing in the famous Westminster dog show in February.  

UPDATE: 1:01PM: The Holiday Fire burning southeast of Gardnerville amidst burn scars of previous fires in the Preacher Mine area is now about 55 acres in size and moving slowly through grass, pinion and juniper, Douglas County has said in a press release Friday.
Access is difficult and resource availability is a challenge, the county said.
Hand crews are on order, while one helicopter from the Nevada Division of Forestry (NDF) will be making water bucket drops on the fire.

As part of a continuing investigation, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office ATAC detectives recently located items they believe to be stolen and are now attempting to locate potential victims.

UPDATE: Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called at around noon Monday to a vehicle crash that happened in the southbound lane of I-580 north of the Carson Street exit near the Arrowhead bridge.

UPDATE 2:26PM: Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Saturday afternoon to an accident involving a motorcycle in the 1500 block of Airport Road.

Carson City fire and sheriff's departments, Nevada Highway Patrol, East Fork Fire and Douglas County Sheriff's Office were called Saturday night to a vehicle crash in the southbound lane of Highway 395 and Topsy Lane.

The Nevada Army National Guard landed a CH47F Chinook helicopter on the main lawn at Eagle Valley Middle School in Carson City on Tuesday.

Carson City schools are hosting a number of Veterans Day events Thursday to recognize and honor military men and women including display projects on the lawn at Carson Middle School. Veterans from all branches of military service are invited to view, or attend any of these events including local students and their families.

CARSON CITY - Carson Tahoe Health is excited to present its fifth annual Spooktacular party, a family-oriented Halloween celebration open to the community. The free event takes place on Monday, October 30 from 3:30pm to 5:30pm in the north parking lot at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called late Sunday morning to a vehicle accident involving a juvenile pedestrian in the 1200 block of La Loma Drive in East Carson City.

An adult male pedestrian was killed Friday morning in a vehicle accident that happened in the area of State and Long streets, according to Carson City emergency personnel on scene.

UPDATE: 2:45PM: An inmate was taken by Care Flight for a stab wound following a fight at the Correction Center yard at Warm Springs, according to Department of Corrections Public Information Officer Brooke Keast. The injury was non-life threatening. A second inmate was shot with pellets and did not suffer serious injuries and was not transported. No corrections officers were injured.

UPDATE: Carson City Fire Department was called Friday morning to the Warm Springs Correctional Center off of Fifth Street for an incident involving an inmate that was reportedly shot with pellets. Care Flight air ambulances have been ordered.

CARSON CITY — A Nevada Army Guard CH-47 Chinook helicopter crew will fly to Texas Wednesday to assist emergency responders in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. The Chinook helicopter crew is set to assist the Texas National Guard with search and rescue missions in the Houston, Texas, vicinity.

With firefighting efforts focused Tuesday on the Voltaire Fire in Carson City, a small fire two miles south of Spooner Summit continues to burn, but has not had a rapid spread, fire officials said Wednesday.

Carson City Fire Department dispatched a medical helicopter to Carson Middle School following an accident Tuesday afternoon involving a bicycle rider in the Kings Canyon area.

UPDATE 8:48PM: The injured driver of the vehicle that slammed into a building at 4th and Curry Monday night has been flown by Care Flight to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

MINDEN, Nev. — A helicopter made a hard landing Sunday afternoon at the Minden-Tahoe Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration reported.

UPDATE FRIDAY: A total of 20 acres burned and fireworks are the cause, said Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon.

UPDATE 5:34PM: The fire is around 4 to 5 acres and is being doused by a helicopter and fire crews on scene. Forward progress of the fire has been stopped and the area was receiving rain. Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon noted firefighters are experience erratic wind behavior but that they also have the upper hand, with about 70 percent containment.

UPDATE 10:30PM: An arrest has been made in Monday night's hit and run pedestrian crash at Oak and Clearview that seriously injured a male juvenile, Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Brian Mays confirmed.
