The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department opened three new segments of trail following an Oct. 30 ribbon cutting. These fun new trails are part of a network of non-motorized paths that connect residents with almost 5,000 acres of Carson City Parks and Open Space within the Carson River/Prison Hill area. Future plans include completing a multi-use path around Prison Hill.

The Nevada Builders Alliance, owner of the Bank Saloon, has requested assistance by the Brewery Arts Center to solicit proposals from local artists to beautify the electric transformer box located at their property on the corner of Carson and 5th streets. October 15, 2020 The Lyon County Board of Commissioners Directed the County Manager to being back a recommendation to change the language on the Brothel Ordinance that would allow for escort services and other changes as allowed in other counties.

While the building that is housing the Lamplighter bar has undergone many names throughout its long history, owner Cheryl Mathwig said she always connected to its iteration of being the Lamplighter.

Now the bar that was most recently known as Tommy’s Neighborhood Bar has reverted to its old name, and Mathwig is dedicated to bringing back historical touches.

The Stewart Indian School Cultural Center and Museum was closed to the public on Friday and will remain so for the foreseeable future in response to the coronavirus crisis.
