Carson High's Reynolds leaving a legacy of success, love

The 31-year veteran teacher is retiring from the Carson City School District at the end of this week, leaving behind a legacy of unprecedented success in the CHS Culinary Arts Department.

We here at Eagle Valley Middle School are asking for your support by enjoying some awesome pizza at Pizza Factory on HWY 50 East on Tuesday, April 22nd from 11 am til 10 pm. The generous owner will then donate 20 percent of the entire day's earnings back to the PTO to help with the Student's and Staff's needs for the remainder of the school year.

But not too many toastings, lest you lose yourself and then, forget the good Saint Patrick and see all those snakes again! Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Carson City. There are some great parties going on around town, check out the list to find them all. Don’t forget to designate a sober driver or call a taxi if whiskey or green beer are part of the day’s plan.

Technology on display at annual science night
Submitted by editor on Tue, 03/15/2016 - 10:09pmAnthony Aguilar and Jack Wilson, both 13-year-old eighth-graders at Eagle Valley Middle School gave a demonstration on how to work a robotic arm at the annual Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math Night.
“You can move it up or down or also turn the rotation of the claw,” explained Anthony. He showed how to pick up different items with it.

National Pancake Day at IHOP means a free short stack; but they are hoping you’ll donate to the Children’s Miracle Network. Jazz and Poetry take over Comma Coffee this evening; the Mile High Jazz Band can be found there every second Tuesday all year long. Get your fro-yo fix at Yogurt Beach and help raise funds for the annual Relay for Life fundraiser. A great panel of women will be at the Dayton Community Center this evening to share their experiences growing up on the Comstock.

Not today, though, so embrace the sunny spring day that we have. Put on your cowboy boots and head to Carson Lanes for some line dancing. Square dancing in Genoa is free your first time; dress casual and go do-si-do. The Performance Hall at the Brewery Arts Center is where you’ll find the Carson City Classic Cinema Club’s viewing of Meet John Doe with Gary Cooper.

Fleet Reserve Association honors winners in patriotism essay contest

Beloved Carson City Teacher Richard Scott Dies
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sat, 02/20/2016 - 11:57amRichard Scott, a Carson City teacher for 25 years, died Friday, February 19, 2016, of respiratory failure. He was 69. Richard taught English and reading at Eagle Valley Middle School for 23 years. He cared for all of his students and tried to teach them to be thinkers and to relate their emotions to literature. He was active in Boy Scouts, 4-H Guide Dogs for the Blind, Kiwanis, and shooting sports.
He loved fishing and camping. His latest message for his former students is to QUIT SMOKING!
I Love Carson City’s Weekend Event Summary: Feb. 20-21

Love on a Leash at the Carson City Library will give them a chance to practice their reading skills with a non-judgmental furry friend. Celebrate the Asian New Year with crafts and music at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada. Take a look at the whole list for a weekend filled with activities for those young, old, and in-between.

This Thursday is EVMS Day at the Carson City Pizza Factory of Highway 50 East. The generous owners will donate 20 percent of the entire day's earnings to the EVMS PTO. This month's rewards will go to the Library's Book Fair Program.
