Describing the Silver State Tag is a lot like watching one of those late night infomercials. With all the extra gear and services a person can win, you are constantly saying the phrase, “but wait, there’s more!”

A band of mule deer at the Carson City Courthouse Saturday morning were savvy enough to cross Roop and Musser streets at the designated crosswalks.

Motorists, too, yielded to the four-legged pedestrians.

Carson City man finds antler shed of mule deer known as 'The King of Carson'

Shed antler season has begun around the West with one Carson City outdoorsman having found the antlers of a very large buck known locally as the "King of Carson."

I just don’t have it in me to make an Ides of March pun, but I guess I could take a stab at it. There isn’t really anything to be wary of today, so head out with abandon. Band students from all the Carson City schools, elementary on up, will get together this evening for a grand performance. Band-o-Rama will take place in the ‘big’ gymnasium at Carson High; get there early if you want a good seat. Learn more about the Court Appointed Special Advocates at their informational meeting; more volunteers are always appreciated.

Downed line, power outage reported in East Carson City

A downed power line reported around 10 a.m. Saturday morning in the area of U.S. Highway 50 East and Deer Run Road appears to be related to traffic back-up at the East College Parkway-Fairview Drive signal and a loss of electricity to more than 1,200 customers.

A Spinone Italiano, Adele, owned by Carson City Deputy Director of Emergency Management Stacey Belt, made the cut to the final sporting dogs at the 142nd Westminster Dog Show in New York City on Tuesday. Ultimately, a bichon frise named Flynn was picked “best in show.”

A band of mule deer well known to downtown Carson City residents chose the grounds of the Bliss Mansion to relax Sunday morning.

The deer band is led by an eight-point stag, who is often accompanied by younger three-point and forked-horn bucks.

Emergency dispatch has reported a three-vehicle non-injury motor vehicle accident that occurred just after 4:10 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Deer Run Road and U.S. Highway 50 East.
