Do you want to build a snowman, Carson City? That may be ambitious with our first dusting of snow, but I’m sure you could finagle a snowball or two.

It was rainy last night in our valley, but this evening should see some snow. A winter wonderland isn’t always easy to drive in, so please slow down and be careful. Monday always brings karaoke at the Firkin and Fox, so go sing your heart out. Football lovers will probably be watching the Bears-Chargers game. For those of you with swing in your step, head to El Charro Avita for intermediate dance lessons and the High Sierra Swing Dance Club’s weekly ‘night out.’

If you didn’t attend the performance of the Carson Chamber Singers on Sunday, don’t miss their encore this evening at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Red’s Old 395 is the place to be if you want to catch Carson City’s Classic Cinema Club’s showing of Royal Wedding with Fred Astaire. Living the Good Life starts up a weekly trivia and bar games night this evening, and their menu is chock-full of yummy options. Country Line Dance at Carson Lanes or beginning swing dance at El Charro’s are for those who want to kick up their heels.

Happy Wednesday, Carson City. One of my favorite weekends of the year is just around the corner. Nevada Day is something special here in the capital city: the parade, beard contest, fam fest, and so much more. Parade day falls on Oct. 31 this year, and when that happens, trick or treating in Carson City gets bumped up a day to Friday. Tuesday has arrived and it is starting to feel like autumn. It’s a perfect day to head to Gardnerville’s Corley Ranch for a pumpkin. Get your blood pumping with Carson City’s Parks and Rec. Department on this morning’s Easy Walk at Silver Saddle Ranch. Go dancing tonight and take your pick of line dancing at Carson Lanes or beginning swing dance at El Charro’s. Classic movie buffs won’t want to miss out on a showing of the original Little Shop of Horrors at Red’s Old 395.

Coffee, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Luckily for Carson City, there are numerous great places to get a cup of joe: Comma Coffee, Dutch Bros., Carson Coffee, Cracker Box... the list goes on. Celebrate National Coffee Day however and where ever you’d like. New to Tuesdays in town are a five course Basque dinner at Capital Eats inside Westside Pour House with a new offering each week. Reservations are recommended if you don’t want to miss it.

Plane lovers and history buffs are in for a treat today. A rare B-17 bomber is making a stop at the Carson City Airport and will be available for rides and tours. Dancers can choose from country line dance at Carson Lanes or swing dance at El Charro Avita. Capital Eats inside of Westside Pour House just started a Tuesday night Basque dinner, but you’ll want to call for reservations and information on this week’s menu. Get your wing fix Firkin and Fox: it’s all you can eat chicken wings today. Save room for dessert, though, National Ice Cream Cone Day is worth celebrating.

There is the Parks and Recreation easy walk in the morning, or the Muscle Powered Conditioning hike in the afternoon. These happen every Tuesday and the location always varies, so you get the chance to explore various trails in our valley. Get your swing on at Eagle Valley Golf Course. It’s Ladies night, so you get some instruction, a few holes, and refreshment.

Motown and art hit the stage today at the Community Center as part of the ongoing Jazz and Beyond festival. Well, the CCAI art show and sale opens at 5 p.m. in the theater lobby. The Carson Animal Shelter Initiative has a meeting this evening, and there is sure to be a lot to cover. Their major fundraiser, ‘Bark, Whine, and Dine,’ hits Fuji Park on August 29.
