Lake Tahoe ski resorts kiss dismal February goodbye with blanket of new snow
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sat, 02/28/2015 - 6:57pmA winter storm that wasn’t necessarily supposed to pack a big punch did, sort of, bringing a foot or more of much-needed snow around Lake Tahoe area ski resorts Friday and Saturday.
In what has been a dismal season where resorts have retooled the layers of snow they do have and producing as much as they can with snow making machines, the last day of February 2015 brought out droves of skiers and new hope for a so-called "Miracle March" in the Sierra, where late winter systems have historically pummeled Lake Tahoe with several feet of snow.
Doug 'Mac the Naw' Busey's Lake Tahoe and Sierra fishing report for Feb. 27
Submitted by editor on Fri, 02/27/2015 - 9:46amHello fellow anglers, someone asked me the other day, when does fishing season open? I told him, I fish all year around. The rivers and streams in Alpine County are closed until April 25, 2015, but the lakes are open all year. As for ice fishing, that has come to a close for this year.
Due to our unusually strange winter, the higher lakes have started to thaw out. I talked with John Voss from Caples Lake last week. John said he has not seen such an early thaw in 40 years.

Elaine and I took a ride last Sunday to take some photos in Alpine County, and we also took our fishing equipment if we decided to fish somewhere.
We were undecided as to where to fish, but thought that we would check out some of the waters along State Route 88 and at other spots. As it turned out, we did not fish and for a darn good reason.
