Carson City and Lake Tahoe area road report through Nov. 16
Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Nov. 10-16, 2014. The Nevada Department of Transportation will be completing road work on Highway 50 from Arrowhead Drive in Carson City to Baldwine Lane in Mound House. Work will be limited to shoulder work.
North Lompa Lane will have a lane closure on the northbound side between Carmine Street and Sherman lane from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10.
Telegraph Street will be closed between Carson Street and Curry Street due to utility work all week. Detours will be signed.
There will be work primarily in the shoulder E. Fifth Street from Parkland Avenue to Saliman Road from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Monday through Friday. Elaine Street will remain closed to through traffic from Monday through Sunday. Please follow marked detour.
Nye Lane will have sidewalk work between Northgate Lane and Hot Springs Road. The street will be open, but there will be parking restrictions.
There will be shoulder work on Fairview Drive south of Butti Way and on Fairview Drive south of the Fifth Street roundabout Monday through Friday. No delays are expected.
There will be shoulder work south of Hobart Road in Lakeview estates on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Elsewhere around Lake Tahoe and the Sierra
State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $41 million project from Tahoma to the "Y" junction with State Route 28 in Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore that will upgrade storm water drainage and treatment systems, add curb and gutter, resurface and realign the road, add new left-turn pockets and widen shoulders on a 9-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2016.
State Route 89 (Placer County) from McKinney Drive South to South Street in Homewood: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to noon Friday for miscellaneous work.
State Route 89 (Placer County): Work is complete on a $4 million project from the "Y" junction of State Routes 28/89 in Tahoe City to Alpine Meadows Road making drainage and slope corrections on about a 4-mile stretch of Highway 89.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work is in winter suspension on a $20 million water-quality project from 0.1 mile north of the Eagle Falls Sidehill Viaduct No. 5 in Emerald Bay to the Meeks Creek Bridge in Meeks Bay. This project is adding new drainage features, curb and gutter in some locations, and resurfacing a nearly 7-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2015.
State Route 28 (Placer County): Work is in winter suspension on Placer County’s $50 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. The project is installing curb and gutter, sidewalks, roundabouts, lighting and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work is complete on a $15.3 million water-quality project from Johnson Pass Road to Incline Road in Meyers to install new drainage systems, widen shoulders and add bike lanes in one section, and restore a section of the exiting bike path.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $15.1 million project to replace the bridge over Sly Park Road in Pollock Pines. The project will also add sidewalks to both sides of Sly Park Road, curb and gutter and curb ramps. Completion is expected by spring 2015. Highway 50 is reduced to one lane in each direction through the construction area.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Sly Park Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the highway closed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday for grinding and paving. Motorists will be diverted to the Sly Park Road off-ramps and then back onto the Highway 50 on-ramps.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $57 million project by El Dorado County to construct a new overcrossing over U.S. Highway 50, new on- and off-ramps with signalized intersections, and new bicycle and pedestrian facilities at Silva Valley Parkway in El Dorado Hills. Completion is expected in 2016.
Nov. 10
State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Cemetery Road to Missouri Flat Road in Diamond Springs: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Rubicon Drive to Scenic Drive in Rubicon Bay: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday for utility work.
State Route 193 (El Dorado County) from Sweetwater Trail in Greenwood to Main Street in Georgetown: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday for guardrail and striping work.
Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Brace Road to Magra Road: Work continues on a $36 million project to increase the vertical clearance of nine bridge structures in south Placer County to 16 feet, 6 inches. The vertical clearance will be increased on six structures by lifting the existing bridge deck and the other three will have the roadway below dug down to a lower level. Interstate 80 (Placer County) at Penryn Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures and ramp closures from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday and from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday for bridge work. Interstate 80 will be closed in both directions from Sierra College Boulevard to the junction with State Route 193 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday for the lifting process. A detour will be available using Taylor Road.
Interstate 80 (Placer County) at Brace Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through Friday and 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday for bridge work.
