Carson City and Lake Tahoe area road report through Nov. 2
Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Oct. 27 through Nov. 2. Beginning Monday, October 27, through Thursday, October 30, there will be maintenance work along S. Edmonds Drive between Fairview Drive and Clearview Drive. There will be flagger controlled traffic with minor delays expected.
Lane closures with traffic control are expected at the following locations due to utility work:
— Monday, Oct. 27, through Wednesday, Oct. 29, on Goni Road north of Arrowhead Drive and on Arrowhead Drive east of Goni Road.
— Wednesday, Oct. 29, on Lompa Lane south of College Parkway and on Lompa Lane south of Sherman Lane.
— Monday, Oct. 27, through Friday, Oct. 31, on Fairview Drive south of Butti Way and on Fairview Drive south of the Fifth Street roundabout.
The Nevada Department of Transportation will be completing road work on Highway 50 from Arrowhead Drive in Carson City to Baldwine Lane in Mound House. There will be intermittent lane closures in both directions.
There will be work primarily in the shoulder E. Fifth Street from Parkland Avenue to Saliman Road from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Monday through Friday. Elaine Street will remain closed to through traffic from Monday through Sunday. Please follow marked detour.
Beginning Monday, Oct. 27, through Wednesday, Oct. 29, Calaveras Drive will have one lane of traffic with flaggers just east of Bulette Drive from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On Monday, Oct. 27, the sidewalk on the west side of Carson Street will be closed between Telegraph Street and Proctor Street.
There is a night bicycle ride on Friday, Oct. 31, on the west side of Carson Street from Fleischmann Way to Fourth Street from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will not be any lane closures, but please use caution.
The following road closures will occur on Saturday, Nov. 1, for the Nevada Day Parade:
— Carson Street between Winnie Lane and Stewart Street from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
— Curry Street between Musser Street and Spear Street from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Telegraph Street for one block on both sides of Carson Street from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the west side and 2 p.m. to midnight on the east side.
— Spear Street between Carson Street and Curry Street from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Proctor Street between Carson Street and Curry Street from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In Douglas County, roadwork continues on State Route 207 Kingsbury Grade through the end of October. The road re-opened Oct. 7. Roadwork such as paving, striping and utility work will continue as crews finish this season’s construction.
Motorists should expect construction-related traffic delays of up to 30 minutes over the next few weeks and are asked to drive at posted construction speed limits, or slower as necessary for conditions.
Elsewhere at Lake Tahoe and the Sierra through Nov. 1: State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $41 million project from Tahoma to the "Y" junction with State Route 28 in Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore that will upgrade storm water drainage and treatment systems, add curb and gutter, resurface and realign the road, add new left-turn pockets and widen shoulders on a 9-mile stretch of the highway.
State Route 89 (Placer County) from Wilson Avenue in Tahoma to Grand Avenue in Tahoe Pines: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to noon on Friday for striping and tree work.

State Route 89 (Placer County) from Fairway Avenue to Alpine Meadows Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Wednesday, 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday and Friday and 6 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday for drainage work.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work is in winter suspension on a $20 million water-quality project from 0.1 mile north of the Eagle Falls Sidehill Viaduct No. 5 in Emerald Bay to the Meeks Creek Bridge in Meeks Bay. This project is adding new drainage features, curb and gutter in some locations, and resurfacing a nearly 7-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2015.
State Route 28 (Placer County): Work continues on Placer County’s $50 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. The project will install curb and gutter, sidewalks, roundabouts and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements. Completion is expected in fall 2015.
One lane in each direction of the highway will be open during construction, with intermittent traffic control for pedestrian access. Work is ongoing from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays through Thursday, October 30.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $15.3 million water-quality project from Johnson Pass Road to Incline Road in Meyers to install new drainage systems, widen shoulders and add bike lanes in one section, and restore a section of the exiting bike path.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Johnson Pass Road to Sawmill Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to noon Monday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to noon Friday for drainage work.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $15.1 million project to replace the bridge over Sly Park Road in Pollock Pines. The project will also add sidewalks to both sides of Sly Park Road, curb and gutter and curb ramps. Completion is expected by spring 2015. Highway 50 is reduced to one lane in each direction through the construction area.
State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Union Mine Road to Crystal Boulevard/Monitor Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Schnell School Road to Carson Road in Placerville: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures at various locations from 7 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday for striping.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Reno Boulevard to Carson Avenue in South Lake Tahoe: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating #2 lane closures from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday for pavement work.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Pope Beach Road to Vikingsholm Vista Point in Emerald Bay: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday for tree work.
State Route 193 (El Dorado County) from Sweetwater Trail in Greenwood to Main Street in Georgetown: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for grinding and paving.
State Route 267 (Placer County) from Airport Road/Schaffer Mill to the junction with State Route 28 in Kings Beach: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday for maintenance work.
