Carson City’s Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada raised $250,000 with annual luau

First it was warm then it wasn't. Then came the valley rain and Sierra snow Monday. Now it's warming up again with a chance some areas of western Nevada could inch close to 100 by Sunday into next week, according to the National Weather Service.

A 62-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday in the 1500 block of Old Hot Springs Road for a burglary warrant issued in May 2014 out of Clark County, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Hundreds of American Indian dancers, drummers, artists, craftsmen and cultural enthusiasts will converge on Carson City this Friday through Sunday for the annual Stewart Father’s Day Powwow.

The Carson City Visitors Bureau is one 75 nonprofit organizations selected to receive the National Endowment for the Arts Big Read Grant, a literary grant challenging communities to create month-long programming around the themes of selected novels.

UPDATE MONDAY 5:40AM: A late spring storm blasted the Sierra with snow this morning, forcing chain or snow tire requirements over Highway 50 Spooner, State Route 207 over Kingsbury Grade, State Route 431 over Mt. Rose Highway and I-80 over Donner Pass. Go here for an update on area road conditions related to the storm. The National Weather Service forecast calls for the skies to be clearing by tonight with a gradual warming trend this week.
