Carson City deputies arrest man on drug charges, woman for assaulting restaurant co-worker

A 34-year-old Sparks man was arrested Sunday in the area of Plaza and Sixth Street for suspicion of felony drug charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Brian Martin Malone was booked at 11:39 p.m. He faces a felony charge of possession to imitate a controlled substance, two counts possession of a controlled substance and five misdemeanors: A warrant issued out of Lyon County, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with suspended registration, driving on a suspended license and no insurance.

According to the arrest report, a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop for suspended registration on a Lexus. The vehicle failed to yield to the signal and continued to drive westbound on Fifth Street.

When the vehicle came to a stop, the driver, Malone, was yelling loudly at the passenger. Due to the man’s behavior, he was detained. He then began yelling profanities at the deputy. A records check showed he had an active and confirmed warrant for failure to appear in Lyon County.

During inventory of the vehicle, deputies located medications and a large amount of a clear crystalline substance found in a bag, which tested negative for meth and a smaller bag, which tested positive for methamphetamine.

Also recovered was a tin lunch container with amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, both schedule 2 narcotics, available only by prescription. Bail: $18,778.
