Carson City rallies support for law enforcement Saturday at appreciation day
It was a day for citizens to say thank you for those who make a living putting their lives on the line. On Saturday, Carson City officially joined the ranks of cities across the country that have now hosted Law Enforcement Appreciation Days, a grass roots movement that continues to grow from coast to coast.
Organized by Carson City residents PJ Degross, Carol Howell and Carson City Supervisor Lori Bagwell, Dozens gathered Saturday at United Federal Credit Union on East William Street to show their support for local law enforcement officers representing the Carson City Sheriff's Office, Nevada Department of Public Safety, Nevada Highway Patrol, Capitol Police and Washoe Tribal Police. Master of ceremonies was local entertainer Rick Radecki.
From retired deputies, reserve to active duty law enforcement officers, also known as LEOs, the gathering drew agencies and citizens together for a few hours of good music, refreshments, a raffle, and plenty of handshakes and hugs offering sincere thanks to officers who put their lives on the line to serve and protect.
