'Hollywood's Original Annie' to appear at Carson City's BAC for movie screening, free concert
On Friday, Aileen Quinn, "Hollywood's Original Annie" will be appearing at the screening of the 1982 classic "Annie," and on Saturday she will perform a free show at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City with her Rockabilly band Aileen Quinn and the Leapin' Lizards in a free, family-friendly outdoor concert.
The Brewery Arts Center is in the middle of its third incredible season of free, summer music through a National Award from the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation presented by The Change Companies. Grab your family, friends and neighbors and get ready to head on down to Carson City for barrier free activities.
Sponsored in part by the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation, a private family foundation that empowers communities to transform neglected public spaces into thriving destinations through the power of free, live music, the Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series presents 10 free, family-friendly concerts to the public at the Minnesota Street Stage right in the heart of the historic district in Downtown Carson City.
The series has a diverse lineup of high caliber talent spanning genres like Celtic, R&B, country, rock, Latin and Brazilian.
On Saturday, July 28, a musical theater legend will grace the Minnesota Street stage when Quinn and the Leapin’ Lizards band brings their Rockabilly sound to Carson City.

Golden Globe nominated Aileen Quinn is best known for playing the title role in the 1982 film “Annie”, directed by John Huston and acting alongside Carol Burnett, Tim Curry and Bernadette Peters. In addition to her Golden Globe nomination, she was awarded “Best Actor” by The Youth In Film Awards.
Aileen has also recorded two albums with Columbia Records: The multi-Platinum selling “Annie” soundtrack and a solo album, “Bobby’s Girl,” produced by legendary Barbra Streisand and Dolly Parton Producer, Gary Klein.
In addition to her concert on Saturday night, Aileen will make a special appearance at a free viewing of Annie through a partnership with the Carson City Classic Cinema Club on Friday night, July 27 at 6:30 p.m. where she will do a question and answer session immediately after the showing of 1982 film.
That showing will take place at Brewery Arts Center’s Performance Hall at 511 West King Street and open to the first 250 guests.
Quinn made her Broadway debut at age 8 in “Annie” as an orphan on stage. For more than 30 years, she has continued being a triple-threat performer, acting, singing and dancing on Broadway, off Broadway, regional theatre, films, television, commercials, animation and voiceovers.
After moving to Los Angeles in 2011, she was thrilled to meet a group of musicians who would inspire her to fall in love with the sound of past eras, particularly 40s and 50s Rockabilly and Swing.
Through her collaboration with co-writer and co-producer Tom Murray, she has found her voice now as a songwriter, as well as performer, with “Aileen Quinn and The Leapin’ Lizards.” She is excited to be back in the studio again working on the band’s second album.
The public is invited to bring their own picnics, blankets and lawn chairs to the concerts, which will have an open lawn and lot setting. Food trucks, libations and kids activities will be available at each of the shows. The Levitt AMP concert series is located at 449 West King Street at the corner of King and Minnesota. Admission is free. The show starts at 7 p.m.
