New tasty spots added to the Taste of Downtown Carson City
Several new participants have joined the flavorful festivities of Taste of Downtown in Carson City this Saturday now making it 42 establishments providing great food and hospitality.
Fifteen shops and galleries will surround the downtown area as well, catching the eyes of people strolling the sidewalks and streets. Go here for a complete list. See the official Taste of Downtown Facebook page here.
Program Director Lisa Lee described the preparation heading into such a large event.
“It’s hard trying to juggle over 40 restaurants and more than 170 volunteers,” Lee said. “But the ultimate reward is worth it, and our year would be incomplete without it. Taste of Downtown has become a neighborhood gathering that so many people enjoy.”
Along with tasty entrees, refreshing beverages, and great music, new improvements to Main Street in downtown Carson City will give foodies a new and improved feel to the event. “The improvements look absolutely beautiful,” Lee said. “It will make the whole process easier, as well as bringing a fresh landscape to the area.”
Taste of Downtown also provides a purpose in their community, as all proceeds from the event will benefit advocates to end domestic violence. Advocates to End Domestic Violence is a private, non-profit organization formed in 1979 by two formerly battered women who saw a need for a domestic violence program in Carson City.
The organization began in a small two-bedroom apartment and today has grown into a full service program that operates a 51-bed shelter and provides a wide variety of services designed to protect and support battered women and their children in the community. With a mission in place to cement a safe and supportive environment, advocates are working towards a violence free future.
