Eyes On Carson City: Third and Curry Farmer's Market begins for 2017 season
June has arrived, and with it the start of the seasonal Third and Curry Farmer's Market, which runs all summer long now through September.
The weekly Saturday market attracts hundreds to the parking lot at Third and Curry Streets across from the Bob McFadden Plaza in downtown Carson City, drawing crowds from all around the Reno-Tahoe region.
Fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables are the highlights of the farmer's market, along with local honey, meats, pastries and prepared foods from dozens of vendors.
Artisan and service vendors are also present at the market.
Live music fills the air, too, and family-friendly activities are included.
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed at the Third and Curry Farmer's Market. Only service animals can be on the grounds while edibles abound in the parking lot.
SNAP food stamp money is once again accepted this year at the market, and matched dollar for dollar, giving residents in need the opportunity to select and enjoy the season's best in fresh produce.
The event opened Saturday morning at 8:30 and runs until 1 p.m., keeping this schedule throughout the summer season until Sept. 30.
