Great Truckee Meadows community cleanup on May 7
By the Bureau of Land Management
Come Join us on Saturday, May 7 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the BLM project location in Golden Valley (north of Reno/Sparks).
BLM is working with Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful, Washoe County, Waste Management, Inc., Golden Valley Homeowners Association, Boy Scouts of America-Nevada Area Council, and others to clean up the public lands at this project site: Golden Valley: Meet BLM'ers Mark Struble & Alan Bittner and members of the Golden Valley Homeowners Association at the north end of Estates Road (where it turns to dirt), approximately one mile north of E. Golden Valley Road.
We’ll be cleaning up the public lands NE of Golden Valley.
BLM is providing a number of 30-yard dumpsters, trash bags, snacks and water, but we need concerned volunteers to fill up those dumpsters!
Sign up by visiting the Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful website at: http://ktmb.org/events/great-truckee-meadows-community-cleanup/
What to Bring: Wear sturdy shoes (no sandals!), heavy gloves and eye protection because we will be picking up trash and junk that others have carelessly dumped on YOUR public land. It is also helpful if folks bring a rake and some cardboard boxes to put broken glass into.
Everyone must provide their own transportation from the meeting site out onto public land. Privately owned trucks and trailers are welcome to haul stuff back to the dumpsters, but private vehicles are used at the owners risk.
Volunteer Picnic at Rancho San Rafael Park: When you sign in on-site, we will distribute special tickets for an appreciation picnic lunch at Rancho San Rafael Park courtesy of Scolari’s, Pepsi and New Belgium Brewery, with music provided by The X radio station and door prizes for the volunteers. Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful staff is doing a great job setting this up! Please contact mstruble@blm.gov Mark Struble, BLM Public Affairs Officer & Volunteer Coordinator, at (775) 885-6107 if you have any questions.
Reserve May 7th on your calendar now! BLM volunteers agree to help without compensation in wages, must be 18-years of age or have a parent's signed consent (forms will be on-site) and know of no medical condition or physical limitation that may affect their ability to do this kind of work.
