Carson City sheriff’s weekend log: felony arrests made for vehicle theft, assault

A Carson City man was arrested Friday, 10:30 a.m. on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle after a brief vehicle pursuit with officers, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Arrested was Adrian Garcia Montez, 21, of Carson City. Bail has been set at $25,000. According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to a call of an occupied stolen vehicle that was being followed by the victim. The reporting witness advised she was following her stolen vehicle northbound at Carson Street and College Parkway.

Officers arrived in the area of Eastlake and I-580 northbound when the reporting witness advised the vehicle was heading northbound on Old Washoe Road. The witness advised they were following the vehicle in excess of 100 mph in a posted 45 mph zone.

The vehicle continued on Old Washoe Road and turned southbound at Bowers Mansion and I-580. A second reporting witness advised he was following the vehicle after he observed a hit and run. The second reporting witness advised the vehicle was traveling approximately 100 mph, according to the arrest report.

Sgt. Mike Cullen located the vehicle near I-580 south of Eastlake Boulevard. Sgt. Cullen activated his emergency lights and the vehicle pulled to the side. The driver was ordered out of the vehicle and detained. A front passenger was also detained. Deputies confirmed the registration and that it had been stolen. The suspect told officers he took the vehicle because he is half owner of it. Officers checked the registration and the title and his name was not listed. He was booked into jail. Bail: $25,000.

In other arrests: A 42-year-old Carson City man, David Hoesch, was arrested at 3:03 p.m. Friday in the area of Fairview and Butti on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance. He also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of a firearm while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

According to the arrest report, officers were called to the 3500 block of Gordon Street for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. While en route the reporting witness told dispatch the suspect had pointed a black hand gun at him. The suspect left the location in his vehicle.

A deputy spotted the vehicle traveling southbound on Fairview Drive at Lepire and made a traffic stop. The driver, Hoesch, followed the deputy’s instructions to exit the vehicle and he was detained. Officers found a black hand gun on the passenger seat of the vehicle and a black and orange pipe with marijuana inside of it on the floor by the passenger’s seat, the arrest report states.

Officers did a vehicle search and found a pouch that had a small cylinder container, holding a baggie with methamphetamine residue. There was also a green glass pipe that had an odor of methamphetamine wrapped in a cloth in the pouch.

Hoesch was taken to jail and booked. His eyes appeared red, watery and he was talking rapidly and moving around uncontrollably. His eyes and behavior were consistent with a person under the influence of marijuana and methamphetamine, the arrest report states.

During the investigation, the victim told officers that Hoesch pointed a black pistol at his face during an argument. Three others said they witnessed what happened and confirmed the story with the officers. Officers obtained a search warrant for a blood draw on Hoesch. Bail: $25,551.

The woman told officers she fell down after getting in an argument with the man. The man told deputies “I’m not going back to prison for domestic,” the arrest report states.

Dispatch advised the man didn’t have any active warrants but was an ex-felon. Deputies asked what his registration address was and he said on South Virginia Street in Reno. Dispatch advised he was last registered off of Camille Drive in Carson City.

Neither would cooperate with officers and say what happened. Due to both of them having marks and neither one cooperating with the investigation, both were arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. She agreed and showed multiple clues of impairment. For the preliminary breath test, she blew a .161. Bail: $1,137.
