Boys and Girls Club hosts free Saturday basketball clinics through March at Carson City MAC
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada is hosting free basketball handling clinics for kids of all ages from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. every Saturday through March 26 at the Multi-Purpose Athletic Center at 1870 Russell Way in Carson City.
The first clinic was held on Jan. 23 and featured Bill Bollinger from the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows’ Ballers program as guest coach.
“Last week we had both boys’ and girls’ varsity teams from Carson High School in attendance,” Kurt Meyer, president of the Clubs’ board of directors and event creator, said. “Each week we will bring in special guest coaches to help kids improve or learn new basketball skills. We would love to see as many kids as possible enjoy the clinics.”
Drop-in clinics are open to children and teens, and participants need not be Club members.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada has been a cornerstone of the community since opening its doors in 1993. Serving some 1,800 youth, Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada provides a safe, structured and positive environment for young people after school, during holidays and summer vacation in six locations around Carson City and Douglas County.
