Heavenly and Northstar delay opening dates due to warm conditions

Recent precipitation and low temperatures have provided ideal conditions and opportunities for firefighters to burn in multiple locations.
Capitol City Gun Club Turkey Shoot happening Sunday

The year started less than auspiciously. We were without power, water or heat for five days. That was followed by flooding, which provided our annual rainfall in one week.

I have so many tasks lined up, I don’t know where to begin — fertilize the lawns, shut down the garden, finish picking apples, prune trees, decide whether to deadhead perennials or not, shut down the irrigation system, and winterize the tools and machines.

Oct. 14 annular solar eclipse

The pictures are part of a series and were taken at 10 minute intervals. The GIF file is a combination of the series. Although the start was shrouded in cloud cover, the majority of the eclipse was pretty clear.
