Carson City Historical Society hosts 'People of the Comstock' lecture in February

Carson City Historical Society (CCHS) is proud to host a lecture on "People of the Comstock," on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. via Zoom. The guest speaker is Garrett Barmore, Curator of the W. M. Keck Earth Science and Mineral Engineering Museum.

Carson City area weather: Chilly temperatures and wind this week; no sign of rain or snow

Dry and mild conditions will prevail ahead of a cold front that will bring colder temperatures and increased winds to the Carson City area for the first few days of February but without any chance of much-needed rain and snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Virginia City's annual oyster fry 'testicle festival' seeks cooks from around region

Virginia City, Nevada’s, 31st annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry and St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a festive celebration of its Basque roots and an all-out Irish party like no other, taking place March 12 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The event includes a parade, costume contests, music and of course, cooks from around the region frying up tasty testes in hopes of being named “Best Oyster Fry Cook.”

Lyon County Commission looks to amend cannabis lounge ordinance among several agenda items

The Lyon County Board of Commissioners will meet Thursday, Feb. 3 with an agenda that includes a resolution adopting a policy for naming county facilities and parks, hear an update regarding a community center in Mound House, and a proposed amendment to an ordinance prohibiting the licensing of a cannabis consumption lounge as a business.

Carson City Rotarians to learn about Austin’s House emergency shelter for children
