Former Yerington assistant principal sentenced to prison for possession of child pornography

Lyon County District Attorney Stephen B. Rye announced Tuesday that the Third Judicial District Court sentenced a former assistant principal at Yerington Intermediate school to 12 to 60 months in Nevada State Prison for possession, accessing and downloading child pornography.

One of the first orders of business for the Lyon County Commission at last week's board meeting held in Dayton on Jan. 20 was a vote on a resolution honoring Legacy Airbase, Dream Flights. The resolution, initiated by Commissioner Wes Henderson, recognizes Dream Flights for honoring WWII veterans and collecting and preserving their stories to share with future generations.
Nevada’s Rainy-Day Fund at $340 million, approximately 85 percent of pre-pandemic record

Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine announced Tuesday that Nevada’s Rainy-Day Fund now has a balance of $340 million, following a transfer of over $295 million from the State’s General Fund last week.

A 35-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday for suspicion of felony domestic battery with strangulation, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called Monday evening to a vehicle crash at the Spooner junction, also known as the junction of I-580, South Carson Street and Highway 50.
School buses in Carson City to resume Wednesday

School buses in Carson City are scheduled to resume Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022. There may be a few routes doubled-up causing minor time-delays, but please plan for school transportation as usual.
Widespread prescribed fire operations continue at Lake Tahoe

If conditions and weather are favorable, the Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team will conduct widespread prescribed fire operations this week in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Operations are expected to continue throughout the winter season to help land managers reduce hazardous fuels that can feed unwanted wildfires.
