UPDATE: A 46-year-old man was shot to death Wednesday night in front of the Blue Bull bar on Telegraph Street in downtown Carson City, confirmed Sheriff Ken Furlong. One adult male is in custody after turning himself in.

The following is a news release from Carson City Sheriff Furlong:
At approximately 9:45 p.m. on April 30, 2025, The Carson City Sheriff’s Office received 911 calls of a shooting on Telegraph Street, between Carson Street and Valley Street. On arrival, deputies located a victim in the street outside of a bar. Fire paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as an adult male born in August 1978.
At approximately 10:26 p.m., an adult male contacted the 911 Center and informed dispatchers that he was involved in the shooting. Detectives immediately arrived at the Sheriff’s Office and took the adult male into custody.
Preliminary information disclosed the victim and suspect may have exchanged words in the bar, however, no physical altercation was reported. Both the suspect and the victim exited the bar into the street where the suspect shot the victim multiple times.
This investigation is active at this time. No other persons were injured and no other ongoing threats to the community are perceived.

The incident happened at around 9:45 p.m. Multiple 911 calls were made to dispatch alerting that one person had been shot. The shooter was not at the scene when deputies arrived. Sheriff Furlong said there had been an altercation. It was initially believed the suspect left in a light colored sedan.
There was an active search for the suspect. The suspect reportedly turned himself in at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office. His name has not been released at this time.
