According to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office app, the suspect in last night’s shooting outside of the Blue Bull bar on Telegraph Street has been booked on open murder, domestic battery with substantial bodily harm committed with a deadly weapon, and possessing a gun under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The booking information names the suspect as De Lecs Smith, age 25, who was booked in just after midnight Thursday, May 1:

The victim has not been named at this time, but was identified as a 46-year-ld man.

The shooting occurred Wednesday night at around 9:45 p.m.

The suspect fled the scene, and when first responders arrived, the victim was declared dead.

The suspect then called to turn himself in just before 10:30 p.m. at the sheriff’s office.

According to the press release last night, the victim and suspect “may have exchanged words inside the bar; however, no physical altercation was reported” and they both exited the bar into the street where the suspect allegedly shot the victim multiple times.
