Arthur Crawford (51) of Carson City was arrested Thursday afternoon on felony robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia after allegedly stealing multiple items from a store using a motorized scooter and punching a store clerk in the face while absconding.

According to the arrest report, Crawford was arrested after deputies were dispatched to a S. Carson Street grocery store regarding a battery. Dispatch advised the suspect had fled on foot, and deputies were able to locate Crawford down the street on Roventini and Oak Drive, according to the report.

When deputies arrived at the store they spoke with the victim who said Crawford had been on a mobilized shopping scooter inside the store filling his cart with multiple items. He then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items, passing all points of sale without paying.

The victim tried to confront Crawford regarding the unpaid items in the scooter cart. Crawford then got out of the scooter’s seat and punched the victim on the left side of the face, knocking him to the ground, according to the report.

Deputies noted that the employee had a red mark on the left side of his face.

Deputies transported Crawford to the jail, and during the intake process, located what was suspected to be a meth pipe on Crawford’s person inside his left shirt pocket.

He was booked on charges of robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the report.

Carson City man arrested for violating TPO only an hour after it was served

A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested for violation of a domestic violence temporary protective order (TPO) after sending messages to the victim’s sister.

Thursday morning, deputies met with the victim who said her ex-boyfriend had been harassing her via text and social media and she’d obtained an active temporary protective order against him, but it had yet to be served.

Deputies responded to the man’s address at 10:25 a.m. and served him with the protection order, explaining the order and the no contact order. This included explanations of third party contacts, which meant the man could not contact the victim through another person.

However, almost exactly an hour later the man began texting the victim’s sister harassing her and asking her to relay messages to the victim.

Carson Now has chosen not to publish the text messages out of victim privacy, but they were harassing in nature, including denigrating and harassing the victim, using foul language, and threatening that she wouldn’t be about to “extend shit” as he’d already set a hearing to gain 50-50 custody of their child, and said he would “use the fact you all still smoke and drink” to harm the victim’s case in court.

Deputies went back to the residence and spoke with the man again, who admitted he sent the messages but “did not think it constituted a third party contact.”

Deputies advised the specific language of “go tell your sister” and “let her know” were clearly messages that violated third party contact, according to the report.

The man was taken into custody and screenshots of the messages sent were uploaded as evidence.

Bail: $3,137

In other arrests: A 39-year-old Dayton woman was arrested for suspected DUI on the Clearview overpass. When deputies responded to the area, they found the woman leaning against her car because she was “unsteady on her feet.” She also had red watery eyes, slurred speech and a strong smell of alcohol coming from her person. She refused field sobriety tests and providing a PBT. She was taken to jail and a warrant was issued to take her blood.

Bail: $1,137
