Hidden Treasures Gift Shop, a beloved Carson City community staple featuring one-of-a-kind, senior-made artisan crafts and gifts, donated $3,000 to Meals on Wheels to feed vulnerable seniors in Carson City.
With food insecurity affecting many seniors in our community, this donation aims to bridge funding gaps and ensure seniors receive nutritious meals, safety checks, and social interaction. “We believe in caring for the community and helping our local seniors at risk of going hungry,” said Julie Linstrom, manager of the Hidden Treasures Gift Shop. “Meals on Wheels does vital work, and we are proud to support them.”
“We are incredibly grateful to Hidden Treasures Gift Shop for this thoughtful donation,” said Courtney Warner, Director of the Carson City Senior Center, who operates Meals on Wheels. “Charitable donations allow us to reach seniors in our community, providing not just food, but the companionship they deserve.”
Located inside the Carson City Senior Center, the Hidden Treasures Gift Shop is a volunteer-run gift shop that offers a curated collection of handmade treasures, showcasing local seniors’ artistry. The hours are Monday through Friday, 9 am to 3 pm and accepts credit card and cash payments.
Meals on Wheels not only delivers a freshly prepared meal to over 300 homebound and frail seniors in Carson City at risk of going hungry, but the program also provides companionship and safety checks, enabling participants to live independently and with dignity.
