A 57-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of felony grand larceny of a motor vehicle after allegedly stealing a RV, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.
Jason Jeffery Wiles was taken into custody in the 100 block of East Long Street at 12:24 p.m. following an investigation.
According to the booking report, a deputy was dispatched at 11:33 a.m. to the 1300 block of East William Street for a vehicle theft report. The reporting party advised that around 9 a.m. Wiles, an acquaintance of the reporting party, drove off with her RV.
She said she and him had gone to the bank to take care of some business. She stated they arrived at the bank, where she advised she went inside by herself and left the man in the RV by himself and left the keys inside. When she came back outside, her RV was gone and she didn’t have any idea where.
She told Carson City Dispatch she believed Wiles took the RV and is probably hiding somewhere. Deputies later learned Wiles knocked on her door at around 1 a.m. and asked her to take him to the Humane Society to pick up his dog, the report states.
Deputies also later learned she had met the man only one prior time and the same circumstances occurred where the man had left with her RV but she had never reported it, the report states.
She told a deputy she was very concerned as the RV was where she and her dog currently live and is where she keeps all of her belongings. She advised she was very upset and wanted charges brought up against the man for taking her RV, the report states.
Deputies located the RV parked in a parking lot with the man sitting in the driver’s seat. A deputy responded with the reporting party to speak with him about the situation. The man was slumped over and not responding to a deputy’s commands to get out of the vehicle. He was the only individual in the RV besides his dog.
Carson City Fire Department responded in an attempt to speak with the man and to see if he was OK. The man was initially not listening to deputy commands and he was not exiting the vehicle, the report states.
After multiple attempts the man eventually exited the RV. He was evaluated by the fire department, who stated they had dealt with the man a day prior when he was intoxicated and had fallen, the report states.
The man agreed to submit to a preliminary breath test, which resulted in a .330, the report states. He repeatedly stated he didn’t know what was going on and was having difficulty speaking. Based on his condition and level of intoxication, he was taken to the hospital to be medically cleared. The man’s dog was also in the vehicle and was taken by animal control, the report states.
After being medically cleared, deputies took the man into custody for suspicion of grand larceny of a motor vehicle. Bail: $10,000.

According to the booking report, Carson City sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Jeanell Drive for a possible intoxicated driver. Dispatch advised the man was sitting outside an apartment in a vehicle with temporary registration, intoxicated and attempting to leave.
Dispatch was advised of an unserved temporary protection order. A deputy collected the document to serve the man with the TPO.
Another deputy made contact with the reporting party who said she was driving the car and the man was in the passenger seat, drinking 99 Proof Banana shots, having approximately seven of the shots. The reporting party stated the man yelled at the woman’s son, making her turn around and go home.
While enroute to the address, dispatch advised the man had left in the vehicle. Deputies located the man and conducted a traffic stop, in the 1400 block of East William.
A deputy made contact with the man and advised him he did not have brake lights on his trailer. The man looked over at the officer but did not speak. A short time later another deputy arrived and asked the man to get out of the vehicle.
The man attempted to reach between his legs, where he had a knife. A deputy removed the knife and escorted the man out of the vehicle where he was placed in handcuffs. The officer escorted the man to the front of the patrol car. The officer noticed he had dilated pupils and asked him if he would be willing to submit to standardized field sobriety tests. The man stared straight ahead and did not answer, the report states. He was then placed into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence.
While escorting the man to the back of the patrol car, the officer could smell an odor of alcohol coming from his person. The deputy read the man the request for voluntary evidence. The man, again, did not answer and stared straight ahead, the report states. The officer then asked the man if he would provide a preliminary breath test for the jail. He did not answer. The man was taken to jail without issue. A deputy contacted the on-call district attorney and on-call judge for a seizure order for a single draw of the man’s blood. The warrant was granted.
The deputy conducted a records check and learned he had a restriction on his driver’s license and was required to have an interlock device in his vehicle. The vehicle did not have one. Deputies found three shots of the 99 Proof Banana shots, the report states. Bail: $2,500.
