The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce a groundbreaking and exciting Initiative: for the first time ever, deputies will be allowed to grow facial hair as part of a three-month long fundraising event benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Carson City.

This community driven effort combines fun, charity, and a chance for deputies to show their lighter side, all for a great cause.

Beginning on December 1, 2024, deputies across the department will participate by growing facial hair, a practice typically prohibited under department policy.

This special exception is part of the department’s commitment to engaging with the community in creative ways while while supporting local youth programs.

“We are thrilled to launch this event, not only because It allows deputies to take part in a something fun and different but also gives us the opportunity to give back to young people in our community,” said CCDSA President Jonathan Tripp. “The Boys & Girls Club plays a vital role in shaping the future of Carson City, and we’re honored to support their work.”

Deputies will voluntarily donate $75.00 dollars for the three-month long event.

Both the, Deputies’ Association and Supervisors’ Association are actively participating in the event and will match the donations collected.

The Initiative will culminate in a highly anticipated “Shave off Celebration” event, where children from the Boys & Girls Club will have the honor of shaving the deputy’s facial hair that was grown during this event.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office sees this as an opportunity to build stronger connection with the community while making a meaningful impact on the lives of local children.
