It wouldn’t be the Christmas holiday season without the ringing of bells heard from store fronts, malls, schools and on Saturday with a concert at Carson City First Methodist Church.

A Northern Nevada holiday favorite for nearly three decades, Tintabulations Handbell Ensemble held a holiday performance Saturday worth a thousand chimes in front of dozens inside First Methodist Church.

Tintabulations Handbell Ensemble, also known as “Tintab,” is a community-based group of musicians dedicated to sharing the artistry of handbell ringing during the Christmas holiday season.

Through concerts, education and outreach, Tintabulations has inspired audiences of all ages to experience the sound, beauty and fun of handbells.

Their holiday program, “Carols of the Bell” celebrates the season’s stories and sounds — ringing in warmth and community to Carson City concertgoers and at churches throughout Northern Nevada.

Under the artistic direction of Barb Walsh, the ensemble includes members Diane Bell, Theresa Benedetti, Autumn Coltrin, Barb Cote, Melanie Graber, Cindy Hawkins, Linda Kurek and June Thompson, with auxiliary support members Lynn Chevillion, John Malinowski, Rodney Porter and Sparks United Methodist Church.

Saturday’s performance was the fifth this Christmas season. The final concert will be held Sunday, Dec. 21, 7 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 357 Clay Street in Reno.

In case you missed the performance, The Sunday concert will also be shown via livestream, 7 p.m., at YouTube.com/Tintabulations.com.
