Bub’s Bookstore will officially open its doors to the Carson City community tomorrow at 1 p.m. with a grand opening celebration featuring local authors, live music, and food trucks.

Located at 110 S. Curry St., the new independent bookshop will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion. Attendees can enjoy a variety of festivities through the afternoon and evening, including book signings, raffle prizes, and an opportunity to chat with local writers.

Co-owners Rob Fuller and Demi Pettway designed the bookstore to serve as a “third space” for the city — a welcoming environment where residents can gather, socialize, and exist without the pressure of having to buy anything.

When visitors browse the new shop, they will find an eclectic inventory that includes outdoor recreation, Northern Nevada history, sci-fi, romance, fiction, children’s books, and works by local authors. The building also features a unique amenity: an indoor kitchen, which will house the store’s cookbook section.

Looking ahead, Fuller and Pettway plan to utilize the shop as a true grassroots community hub where they hope to continue partnering with other local groups and organizations. They are opening in conjunction with the Brewery Art’s Center’s Pride Festival, which also kicks off tomorrow through this weekend, and previously announced a partnership with Hollow Mountain Workshops and the Eagle Valley Middle School Green Biz Kidz to install a community garden on the property, which includes an art design challenge competition for youth happening now.
