Carson High School hosted their annual Academic Letter Awards Ceremony Monday night. The ceremony began like most of its kind, except this year’s special guest speaker was Jim Wilson, our second congressional district judge.
The majority of Wilson’s speech was about the struggles his fathers encountered with a lack of education. He continued to explain that education can lead to opportunities that would otherwise be unobtainable without the proper knowledge. The story concluded with the advice to do what you love and a congratulations to all of the recipients and their parents.
After the ceremony and each recipient received their reward for their hard work, Mrs. Fuson, Carson High School Principal, had some words to say about the students in attendance.
“I think that other than the personal recognition the students get, they don’t get recognized for the work they do. Also with a ceremony like this, we get to celebrate the success of our students as a whole school.”
She conclude her final statements with, “The students and parents who have received awards tonight deserve a congratulations, should hold their heads high and be proud of the impressive feat accomplished.
“The interesting part of our student body is that most of the recipients are also involved with leadership, athletics or are somehow involved in one portion of the school or another. It means that in all reality the number of recipients is more than just a number because academics is just a small part of what these kids do for our school.”
